The VIQUA Arros 22 is a point-of-entry ultraviolet (UV) system that disinfects all of the water coming into your home. Water passes through a stainless steel chamber where a high-output UV lamp inactivates microorganisms such as Cryptosporidium, Giardia and E. coli. Nothing is added to the water and taste is unchanged.
It is rated at 22 gpm (83.3 lpm; 5.0 m³/hr) at VIQUA’s 30 mJ/cm² standard dose and 16 gpm (60.6 lpm; 3.63 m³/hr) at the 40 mJ/cm² NSF/EPA dose, measured at end of lamp life.
The Arros chamber has its inlet and outlet on one plane, which keeps the plumbing straight and tidy. A PolyProtect shield at the outlet blocks UV light so the system can connect directly to PEX. The controller mounts on the chamber and has a touchscreen that shows lamp life remaining and the part number of the replacement lamp.
Maintenance is a once-a-year lamp unit change. The lamp and quartz sleeve come as one piece and the lamp itself tracks its days remaining, so the reminder resets when a new genuine VIQUA lamp is installed. VIQUA recommends a sediment filter ahead of the UV unit and water softening where hardness is over 7 grains per gallon.

Maintenance
Replace the VA22LU lamp unit once a year, when the controller alerts (about 9,000 hours). The lamp and quartz sleeve are a single part, so there is no separate sleeve to buy. VIQUA recommends cleaning the quartz with a mild acid such as CLR or vinegar during lamp changes and softening the water if hardness is over 7 gpg.
