Water treatment for Vernon and the North Okanagan
These whole-house filters suit well water with a problem that would clog a cartridge quickly. Cartridge filters still have a place for light sediment and taste.
Orange or black staining from iron or manganese
A rotten egg smell from hydrogen sulphide
Cloudy water or sediment from a well
A lab test found arsenic, uranium or fluoride
Bacteria: UV Purification
Hardness and scale: Water Softeners
Drinking water taste: Reverse Osmosis & Drinking Water Systems
Water flows down through a tank of media chosen for your problem, such as NextSand for sediment or Katalox Light for iron and manganese.
On a timer, the control valve reverses the flow and flushes what the media caught down the drain.
The media settles and rinses, then goes back into service ready for the next cycle.
The media inside the tank decides what the filter removes. Your water test tells us which one to use.
Turbidity and sediment, with finer filtration than traditional multimedia.
Iron, manganese and hydrogen sulphide. A longer-lasting alternative to greensand and Birm.
Manganese-oxide media for iron, manganese and hydrogen sulphide. Also reduces some heavy metals and sediment.
Iron, manganese and hydrogen sulphide reduction. Regenerated with potassium permanganate.
Calcium and magnesium media that raises acidic water to a neutral pH.
A lighter turbidity media than NextSand, for coarser particles.
Turbidity filtration, still common in large municipal sand filters.
Sediment and turbidity, usually layered with other media for staged removal.
Heavy metal reduction, including arsenic, lead and uranium.
A versatile media that is always paired with another, most often carbon.
Coconut-shell granular carbon for chlorine, taste and odour, organic colour and chlorinated solvents.
HydraPlus filters for iron, sulphur, tannins, fluoride and heavy metals, each quoted after a water test.
1
We test your water for free, so the media matches what is actually in it.
2
You get a written quote for the filter and any other treatment it needs.
3
We install the filter on your main water line and set the backwash schedule.
4
The filter cleans itself. Call us when your water changes or the media is due for replacement.
Sediment and carbon cartridges are in our online store, with free shipping on orders of $100 or more.
How is a backwashing filter different from a cartridge filter?
A cartridge traps particles until you replace it. A backwashing filter flushes what it catches to the drain and keeps working, which suits well water with heavy iron or sediment.
Can these filters remove arsenic or fluoride?
Yes, with the right media. MetSorb reduces arsenic, uranium and lead, and bone char reduces fluoride. A lab test confirms the levels first.
Why do I need a water test first?
Each media works within a range of pH and iron levels. Filox and MTM, for example, need the right conditions to remove iron. The test is free and tells us which media will work.
