The VIQUA Arros 9-IHS10 combines an Arros 9 ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system with pre-filtration on a single wall-mounted bracket. A 10 in. housing holds a CMB-510-HF sediment cartridge, so the water is filtered before it reaches the UV chamber.
The sediment cartridge traps sand, silt and rust that would otherwise shade microorganisms from the UV light. In the UV chamber a high-output lamp inactivates microorganisms including Cryptosporidium, Giardia and E. coli without adding anything to the water.
The system is rated at 9 gpm (34.1 lpm; 2.0 m³/hr) at VIQUA’s 30 mJ/cm² standard dose and 7 gpm (26.5 lpm; 1.59 m³/hr) at the 40 mJ/cm² NSF/EPA dose, measured at end of lamp life. The inlet is 1 in. FNPT and the outlet is a combo 1 in. MNPT / 3/4 in. FNPT port.
Maintenance is a once-a-year VA09LU lamp unit change, prompted by the touchscreen controller, plus filter cartridge changes about three to four times a year depending on water quality. A pressure-release button and a sump wrench make cartridge changes simple.

Maintenance
Replace the VA09LU lamp unit once a year, when the controller alerts (about 9,000 hours). The lamp and quartz sleeve are a single part, so there is no separate sleeve to buy. VIQUA recommends cleaning the quartz with a mild acid such as CLR or vinegar during lamp changes and softening the water if hardness is over 7 gpg. Change the filter cartridge about three to four times a year depending on water quality and use; a gradual drop in water pressure means they are due.
